On behalf of the AIGA Diversity Council, I had the great pleasure of sketchnoting Claudia de Almeida’s design journey presentation for West Michigan’s 2015 Design Week. I loved her practicality and desire for experimentation while respecting the vast history of typography. I had a wonderful chat with her and look forward to her future projects with her own business, a definite step in a unique direction beyond her work with WIRED and Real Simple magazine.
Enjoy!

I had the pleasure of attending one of Ram Castillo’s ( giantthinkers.com ) tour stops, and got some great sketchnotes to encapsulate the presentation. Ram was a real pleasure to chat with, very personable and dedicated to his vision. If you haven’t yet, check out his book “Get a Job As A Designer. Guaranteed”.
Thanks to the AIGA Diversity Council of West Michigan for the chance for Kendall College of FSU and West Michigan to have him speak!

I found an old concept I had done for fun illustrating an event from my childhood. I had been dreaming deeply when I rolled over and fell from the top bunk in my room, and while falling I woke up. To this day that sensation of exiting a dream in flight is one of my strangest experiences yet!

I finally get to publicly post some of my UI concepts! Playing with the intro design for a local nonprofit, Food Circles. First of many iterations to come, but this one is to kick off the core team with my ideas for the display.

More Michigan talent! Jonny Carroll, with a brand new folk album, busking around downtown Grand Rapids. Yay!
